Bethel Food Bank/Food Pantry
The Bethel Food Bank/Food Pantry provides food to community members experiencing food insecurity.
Volunteers are needed to help sort and package food and to help with distribution. Distribution is the 2nd Saturday of each month from Noon-2pm at the M.E.School parking lot. Sorting takes place in the afternoon during the week prior.

The mission of KCL is to improve the quality of life for all members of the community by meeting the cultural, recreational and information needs of the University of Alaska’s Kuskokwim Campus and the community of Bethel.
Volunteers are needed to help with library programs and community events as well as with the Friends of the Library Board.

The SouthWest Alaska Arts Group (SWAAG) aims to support, promote, and preserve all arts in the Yukon Kuskokwim region and across Alaska. SWAAG works in partnership with many community entities to provide exposure to the arts, local culture, and entertainment for the community of Bethel.
Join one of our many committees that help make events, concerts, performances, the Cama’i Dance Festival, and the local gift shop a success. We are also always looking for people willing to teach classes and share their knowledge and love of art. If you are interested in being involved in the arts in Bethel, give us a call.
Donations of artistic work for our annual auction are also welcome.

The City of Bethel relies on community volunteers for the following to help support governmental operations.
Committee and Commission Membership
Bethel 4-H serves the youth in the community with afterschool programs and summer day camps. Youth-driven projects and hands-on activities such as STEM, healthy living, and civic engagement are helping youth develop positive life skills while reflecting the interests of local families and the community.
We regularly need volunteers to help with the afterschool program and with club projects to help our youth become our leaders.

The Bethel Search and Rescue team is an all-volunteer group of men and women who respond to calls for help for missing persons in the Bethel area. The BSAR also provides assistance when requested by the Alaska State Troopers, Civil Air Patrol, City of Bethel Police, Village Police Safety Officers, and other SAR teams in villages surrounding Bethel.
We are looking for volunteers to help regularly as well as during emergency situations. Regular activities include trail and open water marking and help with administrative tasks. Emergency activities include helping with searches, manning phones and radios, and cooking for volunteers.
